The Death Penalty Program supports coordinated work (litigation, advocacy, policy, communications, and research) to abolish the death penalty in the United States.

Program Goals

Abolition of the death penalty through reduced use:

Legislative reform or repeal

Reduce executions

Reduce new sentences

Major executive actions

Maintain regular media coverage highlighting the flaws and racism in the death penalty and emphasizing that there are more effective responses to violence
