Betsy Fairbanks Receives Award

FNV President and CEO was presented with an important award from California (CSSJ). Robert Rooks, Vice President of Californians for Safety and Justice, presented the award stating the following, Bringing survivors together to set a new agenda for public safety is not well resourced or supported. And it is rarely discussed. Except for one amazing person, representing one amazing foundation. Betsy Fairbanks, an early supporter of crime survivors for safety and justice, would go all across the country and California, talking to funders about the need to support survivor voices, to change criminal justice policy discussions. Betsy has never wavered in her commitment to survivor organizing, growing survivor leadership and supporting a survivor centered agenda rooted in the survivor experiences. It is an honor for me to stand here and give this award to someone I’m proud to call my friend, my colleague and someone that helped birth this movement.
