Mona is the founder of strategic consulting firm Deep Water Collective. Prior to consulting, she was Director of Advocacy and Campaigns at Equal Justice USA (organization sunset August 2025). She worked with EJUSA staff and partners to reduce the harm of the current system and build transformational solutions to violence. Her work supports campaigns and organizing to end the death penalty, build community centered solutions to violence, and create systemic solutions for safe communities. Her work has directly contributed to state level death penalty repeal and limiting the death penalty in dozens of states. She uses her expertise in community based organizing and policy change to provide training, strategic guidance, and hands-on assistance to state/local legislative campaigns across the country.
Before joining EJUSA in 2009, Mona spent 10 years with Amnesty International, supporting human rights campaigners across the globe to build grassroots power, educate, and implement human rights centered policy.
